Virgin drinks was, by far, the most fun Shannon and I have ever had on a shoot. For those of you who don't know Shannon, it takes a lot for him to laugh. I believe, at one point, he was doing the "pee pee" dance and trying not to lose control of the camera. Emily and I were laughing so hard during the shoot and, afterward, we immediately watched the entire 46 minute raw footage and found ourselves laughing even harder. This one was hard to edit because there was so much in it that was good, but we managed to stay up until 7:45am and cut it to under 10 minutes.
I have to be honest, when Emily came to me with this idea of an episode about drinking, I found it hard to believe that we were going to teach you guys anything. I know drinking is something that is a passion for her, so I brought the idea to Shannon. He said the only way we would do it is if Emily was drinking the entire time. That's where the drinking game came into play.
Emily and I have been friends forever. She was the only one that would take me dancing on my 21st birthday without trying to shove alcohol down my throat. When people ask me why I dont drink, I just smile and think to myself, it's just way too much fun to watch others (like Emily) become completely goofy and unfold right in front of me.
Make sure you take a look at the photos after you watch this episode. We didn't have our photographer (Dana) on set, so I thought I'd share some of the good times that were had by Emily and I!
Emily's take...
Tina and I met in community college roughly five years ago. From the start, I could tell that Tina was an all-American type girl who didn't drink or swear. Whereas, I love drinking various alcoholic beverages, and the "F" word makes a special appearance in every other sentence I speak. Needless to say, Tina and I were a mismatched pair from the start, but somehow our friendship worked.
Eventually, we left the fast paced and riveting world of community college, and transfered to the prestigious Rowan University. Tina began doing a show for the Rowan Television Network called "Teaching Tina..." One week she needed someone to teach her something for the show, and I decided to insinuate myself on the situation. Honestly, there are not many things I am capable of teaching. I love shopping, eating, and drinking copious amounts of wine, which are not really activities that require a tutorial. Or do they? Well, maybe one activity did.
If you know Tina, then you know she does not drink alcohol under ANY circumstances. If you know me, then you know I drink alcohol ANY chance I get. And thus, I decided to teach Tina how to drink, like me! She wasn't down to drink alcohol on camera (or otherwise) no matter how much I begged and bribed. Therefore, we decided I would make an alcoholic version of the party drinks for me, and a "virgin" version of the drinks for her.
The drinks we made are based on the drinks I have had at bars, parties, or concoctions I just made up. Before the episode, my friend told me about a drinking game where you duct tape beer bottles to the prospective drinker's hands and make him/her drink until the bottles are empty. This drinking game is called "Edward Forty Hands" and I played this game in the episode. It was awesome.
By the end of the episode I was covered in vodka, pretty buzzed, and Tina almost peed herself she was laughing so hard. The drinks came out awful, possibly proving that those who can't teach should just do.
